Background

When a sink hole emerged on the railway line at Gatehead, near Kilmarnock, Amco Giffen appointed Westlin immediately to mobilise as part of the emergency response team.

After investigation the issue was found to be an uncharted collapsed culvert

Project Summary

Westlin assisted Network Rail and Amco Giffen to set up the site compound and necessary exclusion zones around the affected area whilst assisting in ground investigation works.
After investigative works and consultation with the design team Westlin replaced the defunct culvert with a modern equivalent.

Key Achievements / Outcomes:

This project showcased the very best of our abilities at Westlin. In a race against time, Westlin’s diligent efforts ensured the safe and prompt reopening of the route, reinforcing our reputation for reliable crisis management.
