SSE Switchgear Building
Removal of dilapidated Timber Retaining Wall and Embankment improvement works.
As part of SSE’s ongoing upgrading works the current operational substation at Coupar Angus was chosen to be one of the preferred sites to accommodate a new build substation under their current 5-year improvements framework.
The sub stations are being built to cope with increased generation created by renewable energy projects whilst also renewing its existing network.
Working in partnership with VQ Construction, Westlin Group were appointed as civils contractor for the in situ concrete structure works which were designed to house the new 33 kV indoor Switchgear building.
- All works completed whilst working within SSE’s managed live infrastructure incorporating any requirement to have operatives C3 trained.
- Installation of Preprufe plus DPM waterproof membrane to ensure a comprehensive waterproofing solution which incorporated the Bituthene 8000 tanking system for vertical surfaces.
- Formwork, reinforcement and concrete installation to form concrete structure which incorporated the requirement for specialist Roxtec seal ducting, holding down bolts and any designed formed surfaces.
