Bishopbriggs Train Station

EGM1 Line at Bishopbriggs Train Station requirement for further wall strengthening and renewal.

Background

Following a routine site survey, it was established that the retaining structure at the rear of platform 1 on the EGM1 Line at Bishopbriggs Train Station there was the requirement for further wall strengthening and renewal.

Most areas on the wall were in need of repair by means of installing a new cast in-situ concrete facade which would be tied into the existing masonry wall as per Network Rails Form 3 design.

Project Summary

Due to the extremely tight access and working restraints Westlin Rail utilised Peri Formworks man handle able Domino system to provide the necessary formwork design required to achieve the proposed retaining wall profile.

In conjunction with AMCO Scotland, the structural strengthening works were constantly re-evaluated to ensure the affected areas were repaired with a method that minimised any unnecessary pressure on the existing structure whilst ensuring it remained in line with both programme and budget restraints

  • Early collaboration between Westlin and AMCO ensured that the correct engineering solution was applied and that the long term stability of the wall was secured.
  • New in situ concrete wall installed which incorporated weep hole vents to ensure any un necessary water pressure from behind the structure is drained efficiently.
  • All works safely delivered in a challenging high street environment with various access and working restraints.
