Rolling Program of Decarbonisation

Kinning Park TSC

Rolling Program of Decarbonisation

Background

The Kinning Park TSC module, initiated as a key component of Scotland’s 25kV Traction Power Network enhancement, represents an important step towards decarbonisation. Appointed by SPL Powerlines, Westlin undertook the civil works for this new module, aimed at replacing an older Traction Supply Centre (TSC) near Shields Junction.

Project Summary

Westlin contributed to the design and development of the TSC’s civil works. The project encompassed a wide range of tasks, including various Under Track Crossing (UTX) installations, the setting up of ground, elevated, and wall-mounted trough routes, and extensive earthworks leading to the installation of reinforced concrete slabs and perimeter palisade fencing.

Key Achievements / Outcomes:

The successful completion of the Kinning Park TSC module by Westlin brought specific operational benefits, such as increased engineering access times and the ability for local depots to maintain electrical feeds during adjacent section isolations.
