The Cross Water of Luce (UB163/068) required various remedial works to prolong its lifespan. Story Scotland appointed Westlin to deliver a proportion of these works.
The scope of engineering works encompassed a wide array of tasks including ballast retention replacement and scour protection. Notably, the project saw the introduction of a new concrete mattress technique for enhanced scour protection. Throughout the project, proactive community and environmental management were prioritised, including effective communication with local stakeholders and adherence to environmental regulations.
Thanks to effective communication and pioneering engineering solutions, the project was a success, demonstrating Westlin’s ability to adapt and commitment to environmental considerations.
